The cost is $150. This includes registration, overnight accommodation on Saturday, lunches and conference dinner. If you do not wish to stay overnight the cost will be $112 inclusive of meals. Bed and breakfast for Friday 29th November can be arranged for $38.50. Focus The conference will provide a forum for enquiry into learning and teaching in the tertiary sector of New Zealand. It aims to support and develop a community who share a common interest in research. At a time when universities and polytechnics are under considerable external pressure to change it will provide an opportunity to step back and examine the direction in which education is moving, and the means by which practitioners might influence that direction. A distinctive feature of the conference is the emphasis on creating time for discussion and space for reflection. We aim to continue a discussion which transcends disciplinary boundaries, and to promote further exploration of a research approach to teaching and learning. Organisation The conference is highly participative. Sessions are of two kinds: host sessions and workshops. Host sessions are groups which meet three times during the conference to discuss issues of common interest and share responses to the various parallel workshop sessions. Workshops (which may also take the form of open discussion around a theme or other activity) can cover any area within tertiary education research. Workshop themes? There are no set themes for workshops. However we would envisage that contributors would wish to explore current, new thinking and controversial and unresolved issues within teaching and learning in tertiary education. Conference Dinner The conference dinner is at 'Etrusco at the Savoy' Address 8A Moray Place (upstairs, first floor) We will meet in the bar from 6.30 pm for dinner at 7 pm |
